It’s been SO LONG since I’ve posted, but that’s totally okay. June was a crazy-busy month for me and SO MUCH happened that I still can’t get my brain wrapped all the way around it.
I GOT ENGAGED.
Yup. DZR and I made the big decision to get engaged. He came out to visit me for a weekend and it happened all of a sudden while we were hanging out and talking. No big scene. No ring. Not us. We actually commemorated the day by designing my skateboard (an early birthday present from the DZR).
I’m going to be writing about our engagement, wedding planning, and big day at my other blog, POSSIBLE OUTCOMES. I want to keep that stuff separate from what I do here.
I BROKE MY ANKLE.
Eff. Eff. Eff. Yeah. My wonder-twin, aka the Boston Wife, broke her ankle in a really sweet backyard skatebowl. That was on a Saturday. The following Wednesday, guess who breaks her ankle at Mr. Small’s Skatepark? Yup. Me. Eff. Eff. Eff. A longer explanation post to follow.
What you can’t tell in the picture above, is that my foot was so dislocated and dangle-y that I had to prop it against my other leg so it didn’t fall off. I was so lucky that the doctors could operate the very next day. I also got a room with a view.
I am SO FORTUNATE that I have amazing friends who were able to pitch in and take care of Julie, me, and Moose. I actually renamed my recovery spot, a guest bed in my friends’ house, “The Home for Wayward Women and Dogs.”
I AM OUT OF COMMISSION AND ON VACATION.
Everything now revolves around my ability to prop my leg up, above my heart. I had to take a T.O. from life and I’m home, hanging out with my family and the DZR on the eastern side of the state. I want to use this break wisely to get a lot of things done, but time goes by so fast (especially when you’re trying sleep off your discomfort and walking up stairs takes all of your energy).
In Sum: More blogging (yay!) Less skating (boo!) Wedding planning. Staring at dogs. Crutch races. Big salads. Not a bad impromptu Summer Vacation, if it had to happen.
